Abstract: The adsorption potential energy can quantitatively describe the relationship between the adsorption quantity and temperature and pressure. Therefore, based on the adsorption data at known temperature, the adsorption capacity under arbitrary temperature and pressure can be predicted. This provides a new way to predict the adsorption characteristics of reservoir under different depth and temperature pressure. In this paper, the methane adsorption curves are deduced by two different methods to test under adsorbed by non-coal and coal bearing clay minerals. The relations between the adsorption capacity under different temperature and pressure were obtained by fitting calculation. The results show that the adsorption potential for the samples in order are NH4-I> Kao-I >Ill>Phl. This result is in good agreement with the experiment results, and the method is feasible. It provides a method to predict the methane adsorption state under different temperature and pressure, and provide a basis for the exploration of gas adsorption in deep coal reservoir.
